A meaningful journey begins with one conversation.
Curiosity, questions, and a willingness to learn are welcome here. We will help you understand the steps toward becoming an approved foster parent with Adore.

What to expect, step by step.
Paperwork, background checks, training, and the home study typically take 4–6 weeks. Timelines vary by circumstances, state, and program; final approval may take additional time.

No. People who rent or own may be considered. Your home must meet applicable safety and space requirements, and approval depends on the assessment and program criteria.
Can I foster if I am single?
Yes. Single adults may be considered as foster parents. All applicants must meet applicable state and agency requirements and complete the approval process.
What kind of training is required?
Foster parent preparation includes required training, including pre-service learning. Adore will explain the applicable curriculum and ongoing expectations.
How long does approval take?
Paperwork, background checks, training, and the home study typically take 4–6 weeks. The timeline can vary, and final approval may take additional time. Adore can discuss the process with you.
Will I have support after approval?
Adore provides case management, continuing education opportunities, and on-call support to participating foster families.
Can I speak with someone before starting an application?
Yes. We encourage you to contact the office in your state to ask questions and learn about the process before you begin.
